SOS In The NewsGive residents a say about future of Steel landFrom The Morning Call, November
15, 2003
The citizens of Bethlehem, not elite outside corporate interests, are entitled to have the final say in the future of the former Bethlehem Steel plant land here in our community. Efforts such as those by Amey Senape and Mike Kramer to inform the public about preserving the historical site and creating a national museum of industrial history (The Morning Call, Nov. 7) should be applauded. The benefits of such a museum would be extensive. In addition to the economic benefits, local residents, as well as visitors, would be able to learn about everything from our colonial past to the Industrial Revolution, which was arguably one of the most significant and socially impacting changes of the previous two centuries. But, for this to happen, we need to continue to stand up for our legitimate right to determine the future of our own community. Barry Saturen Bethlehem Township Copyright © 2003, The Morning Call |
